Gosh weren’t we all happy to bid farewell to 2020? What… a… year! I read over my Personal and blogging goals for 2020 blog post and I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry! Most of them fell to the wayside thanks to COVID quarantine, and the rest fell through because I got pregnant (and had really bad morning sickness for a good part of the year). As we embark on 2021 I’m focusing on what I’m thankful for and holding on to hope that things will get better.
What I’m wearing: Black midi sweater dress (similar here) | Letter chain necklace (here) | Croc texture tall boots (here)
What Julian (my son) is wearing: Toddler Boy Colorblock Sweater (here) | Old Navy Gray Jeans (here) | Gucci sneakers (gift from his Tia, similar here)
What my husband is wearing: J.Crew Cotton crewneck sweater (other colors available) | Joe’s Jeans (here) | Black Vans (here)
What I am thankful for:
Above all I thankful that my family and I are healthy and that our efforts to socially distance/ stay home have so far paid off protecting us and those around us. Obviously I miss family and friends that are outside my household, but it makes me THAT much more excited about hugging them one day (and also really snapped me out of what I took for granted before the pandemic).
Although keeping Julian home and not having him go to daycare is a difficult task while we’re simultaneously working our full time jobs, I am thankful for all of this quality time we have spent together. I have been able to be here when he wakes up, walks out of his room and says “good morning mama!”, I have been able to put him down for his naps and hold his hand until he falls asleep, I have been able to see him grow and develop before my very eyes. All of these special moments I know I wouldn’t have otherwise seen day to day had I been at work. Even though I know in the future I will go back to a workplace, I will have these moments to look back on and cherish them.
I am thankful that we were able to get pregnant so fast after deciding to try for baby no. 2. With Julian it took a few months to conceive, so I thought that would be the case this time around but nope this baby girl was ready to come into our lives like the true blessing she is! I know that a lot of couples struggle to conceive so it’s not lost on me how blessed we are. I am thankful that so far she has been healthy and pray that she continues to be as she comes into this world in 4 short weeks or so. I am anxiously awaiting her arrival!
I am thankful that my family and I still have our jobs, and feel for those who are going through the ringer with the shutdowns and difficult economy. More importantly, I am thankful that my job has allowed me to work from home so that I can stay safe and healthy, protecting my babies. The way that our company handled the whole transition to work from home and have treated us has made me that much more loyal to them.
I feel like my year won’t begin until this baby arrives (February 2021) and we embark on the chaotic and sleep deprived newborn stage! I feel like once we get into our groove as a family of 5 (counting our dog Mr. Coco) I’ll be able to emerge. As we embark on 2021, my wish is that we all have a blessed and better year. I don’t want to jinx it, so I’ll leave it at that! Stay tuned as I share what my goals are for 2021 both personally and blog wise!

Paulina
