Chill Outfits for hanging out in backyard

Our backyard has been getting lots of love from us within the last few weeks of quarantine and our neighborhood sounds alive with the sounds of kids and neighbors hanging out in their backyards which made me appreciate the little private space we call our backyard! During this time when I shop, I shop for outfits to wear in the house, to work from home and  for what to wear all the way (being sarcastic, lol) to the backyard! I noticed that I have been drawn to chill outfits for hanging out in the backyard while I supervise my toddler on his water table or running around.

So what do I constitute Chill Outfits for hanging out in backyard? Let me break it down…

What I look for in my cute and chill backyard style:

• Comfort: Comfort is key in all of my choices! Our backyard is THE place to chill and hang out (I ain’t trying to impress anybody!) but I still want to remain cute, you know? I like that these dresses that I recommended above are an intersection of both.
• Functionality: I have been loving dresses with pockets because I am typically running after a toddler in the backyard so pockets to keep my phone, hair tie, chapstick, you name it goes in there! And then of course there is style as the overarching theme. Why wear a plain hat when you can wear this super cute bucket hat? Why wear flip flops when you can wear these perfect-for-summer slides?
• Style: Obvi the overarching themes is always style! You can spruce up a comfortable plain tee dress with some Chuck Taylor Shoreline (slip-on sneakers), some cute sunnies and a straw hat.

What I’m wearing in these pics check all of those boxes: comfort, utility and style especially because this dress alone had all of those components and it is affordable! It also comes in 3 other colors including a light pink which I am considering getting. I like that the material is thick, is has a lose elastic waistband and it has pockets! I stayed true to my size which in my case is a Large (I am on the larger side of Medium, smaller sized of Large if that makes sense, thanks to my Latina curves!). You can find this dress here.

And if you don’t have a backyard, this outfit and ideas are good for pretty much lounging anywhere outdoors whether it be your patio, balcony or a moment in the outdoors. I hope that you are all doing well!
