Cafesito with Pau- Quarantine Edition!

Happy Monday my dear friends! I can’t believe I hadn’t done a “Cafesito with Pau” since last year, like WHOA, it felt like in the blink of an eye our worlds got turned upside down right? Many of you are probably wondering what my Cafesito series even is, so in a nutshell it is just me creating space within my blog to check in a more personal type of way. Lil bits of chic is primarily style oriented which sometimes doesn’t leave a lot of room for you to get to know me (other than my instagram stories). Pre-Covid I would talk about shows I loved, podcasts I loved during (at the time) my long commutes, the highlight of my week, the challenges, things I was looking forward to, etc. So today I’m bringing back Cafesito with Pau including most of the same categories. I’m planning on doing these monthly going forward (this one will be for May!), think of it as my monthly catching up session!

SHOW/ONLINE SERIES I’M OBSESSED WITH THIS MONTH…

In case you missed it, I posted “Netflix and Bravo shows to binge during Social Distancing” and I am updating it as I continue to binge. The latest show I binged on was Season 2 of Dead to Me on Netflix. Christina Applegate is SO good- she makes me laugh, cry and worry for her character in this show. I was trying to explain the vibe of the show to my friend and I concluded that it was like an entertaining dark comedy- so if you are into that type of vibe, I say knock yourself! Ultimately for the month, If I had to choose my top show/movie it would be, Ozark Season 3– like still hands down my favorite of all this month. I binged that one so hard that it was all I watched! If you haven’t watched it, I highly recommend it! If you want to read what I thought about the other shows I watched read this post here.

HIGHLIGHT OF MY MONTH…

Post-covid I instinctively wanted to start with the challenges of the month first because I feel like there are so many, but in the spirit of optimism I will start with the highlight. The highlight so far is that my family and I are safe at home and we have currently remained healthy. Unfortunately, those at-risk within my family (my mom, dad, brother) are still working so that worries me BUT I am thankful their companies have put in place social distancing measures and they wear masks. I still pray that those they come into contact with are also being considerate and taking precautions *prayer hands*

Another highlight are the sunny days, those are a mood lifter around here and it allows us to take Julian out to the backyard to get out some energy! Obviously he is the highlight of my life 🙂 and right now he is at this age where he’s just completing sentences, connecting dots,  making me laugh with the latest things he learns and mimics, plus he has a better memory than I do!

CHALLENGE OF MY MONTH…

I am very grateful that I am able to work from home, and the company I work for has been so on top of things during this time (which has made me SO proud to work for them). With that being said, I still have to put in 40 hours a week of work in, my work tasks and projects didn’t miss a beat and are still continuing, but the challenge is in doing this with a toddler to look after and entertain. We have kept Julian home since we started social distancing about 8-9 weeks ago. Luckily, my husband is also working from home most of the time, and we do what I like to call a “tag team” method where whoever has a conference/virtual call will go into their respective home work space and handle it while the other watches Julian. Sometimes, we BOTH have simultaneous calls or my husband has to go to on location to the school he works at, so at that point I try cookies, iPad or whatever I can to keep him seated in my home office while I do my virtual meetings. 100% of the time he’s with me, he starts talking, requesting cookies or juice, hug me- all of which are super adorable and my coworkers who are on the same boat have been totally understanding , but it’s kind of hard to be in “boss mode” when a toddler is interrupting you on a work call! At the end of the day, we are all doing our best right? Julian has a consistent routine PLUS he is with both his parents every single hour of the day, something that will inevitably change in the future, so when I remember that I snap out of it and appreciate this time I have with him.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…

This category was on my first Cafesito and while it’s hard to be excited about something in the future since we kind of don’t know what’s going to happen, I will say that I have created something to be excited about. So funny that my challenge in that first Cafesito was house hunting, and yes we have been house hunting since fall of last year, but this has definitely made us play it safe and wait until things stabilize. Since we won’t be moving any time soon, I am excited to update the decor in our bedroom and around the house! I’m excited because I have accepted that home decor is a challenge for me, but I think right now is a great time to pour some love, attention and a lil bit of money into these spaces we are spending A LOT of time in! I want to do it affordably so that if you like anything in it you can also recreate it. Stay tuned as I share more!

HOPE YOU ARE ALL STAYING SAFE AT HOME! IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR WANT TO SEE WHAT I’M UP TO IN REAL TIME CHECK ME OUT OVER ON INSTAGRAM UNDER @LILBITSOFPAU!
