If I were to define my style it is classic and chic with a modern twist. I’m usually not an “edgy” type of girl, but once in a while I like to add a bit of edge as an unexpected surprise so for today I wanted to show you can add a bit of edge to your looks!
What I’m wearing: ASOS dress | Black Moto Jacket (similar here and here) | Topshop Mules (similar) | Gucci Earrings | Quay Sunglasses |
SHOP MY LOOK
As I thought about how I put my looks together, I realized that I start with sleek classic pieces and then add layers and/or accessories in the direction of the vibe I’m going for. My classic piece here is this asymmetrical striped dress.

Want to add some edge to your chic outfit?
Here is the simple way I took this dress from classic to edgy which is a great idea if you’re talking an outfit from the office to dinner!

Add a moto or biker jacket.
Moto and/or biker jackets are your instant ticket into Coolville (I do realize the fact that I said “coolville” totally makes me sound so uncool, but whatever you get the point). If you think about it, you can take the most basic of outfits and just by simply adding a good (faux) leather moto jacket it changes the vibe! This is why I think a moto jacket is a great piece to have in your wardrobe to bust out when your outfit needs some cool points.

Fun Heels.
Every girl needs a good “fun heel” in her closet, you know the ones you put on that give you a pep in your step? These mules with a cool heel are mine and I notice I usually wear these when heading out to fun events. Sadly these are no longer in stock, but below I have found some other cool ones to give you an idea of what I mean. If fun heels are not your thing, you can’t go wrong with black pointed heels, so I have added those below as well for your shopping pleasure.

Statement Sunglasses
I didn’t know the power of statement sunglasses until NYFW where I saw so many fellow fashionistas trying to stand out with their bold choice of eyewear. Luckily I had picked up these white “Don’t @ Me” sunglasses (I mean the name alone gives me sass) and felt right at home. Once I came back to San Diego I found myself wearing them ALL THE TIME, to the point that I had to start browsing for other statement sunglasses to put in my rotation. Here are some statement sunglasses that add that instant cool girl vibe.

And while I can list out many other ways to edge up the look, I don’t want the outfit to look like it has too much going on so I feel like these 3 alone would get the job done: by starting out with a chic dress, adding a moto jacket, some fun heels and topping it with statement sunglasses. Let me know if you give this a try!
