My Personal and Blogging Goals for 2021

I know we are almost a month into 2021 but I wanted to put some of my personal and blogging goals for 2021 on here as a way to hold myself accountable and also manifest those goals into reality. I also realized my goals blog post has become a tradition (you can see my 2020 goals here and my 2019 here)! Keep in mind, I set these for post-baby when I start to get into the swing of having 2 kids and also some when the pandemic is under control *Wishful thinking*

What I’m wearing: Headbands (come in a 6 pack for under $15) | Dress (non maternity, but was loose enough to fit), similar option here | Faux fur ottoman cube (similar) | Beige and gold velvet hangers | Blush and cream geometric area rug | IKEA Closets (PAX system and Billy bookcase) | PB Teen Chandelier (similar here)

My Personal Goals for 2021:

Health and Fitness:

  • Get a treadmill and set a mileage goal per week.
  • Drink more water and make it a habit.

Spirit and Mental Health:

  • Tech-free day at least once every other month.
  • (post-pandemic) No kids me-time / girlfriend time.
  • (post-pandemic) Pamper myself once a month whether it be shopping, nail day, etc.

Relationships:

  • (post-pandemic) Date nights with hubby, no kids.
  • (post-pandemic) Family quality time activities with our parents, siblings, etc.
  • Text and connect frequently with family and friends.
  • More thoughtful gestures: Send gifts and cards for no reason, or celebrate loved ones on their special days.

Finances:

  • I have some very specific goals in this area but I’m going to keep those confidential. Among them is college funds/ savings planning for both kids. We are waiting for this insane housing market to normalize so goal is to continue to save for when that opportunity comes.

Misc:

  • Re-decorate bedroom, Julian’s room and office into nursery.

And since I will be on maternity leave for 3 months, I’m going to hold off on making any goals around my career which I usually mention in my goals post.
My Personal and Blogging Goals for 2021, girly the happy planner

My blogging goals:

  • Have an organized and efficient content calendar: I feel like I haven’t nailed down a good system to be organized with my social media and blog posts. I have a paper calendar, I have a trello board, but I still haven’t hit the sweet spot on using it efficiently and where I feel like I’m on top of things. I want to work efficiently especially when I’m a mom of 2 so my goal is to experiment, plan ahead and try to get to an efficient planning system for my content. Once I nail this down, this will help with my next goal (below).
  • Be consistent:  This is always a goal of mine that seems to fall by the wayside. In 2020 it fell apart when the morning sickness kicked in and when I had to manage working my day job from home with a toddler running around.  When I finally came back to blogging, I realized how much I missed talking about style, motherhood, and fun finds. In 2021, I want to show up with 2 blog posts and 2-3 social media posts per week centered around what I love to talk about and hopefully build a community around that!
  • Highlight businesses and other creatives that matter to me – Last year one of my goals was to blog with intent and while the intent was going to be more around certain topics that were near and dear to me, this year I want that intent to be on highlighting others like Latina/Latino/Latinx-owned businesses or creatives, local San Diego businesses and small businesses.
  • Lean into video – So when I had really bad morning sickness and during quarantine I became ADDICTED to tik tok, it makes me laugh-cry, it entertains me and it also teaches me a lot! As Instagram launched reels for this purpose (which in my opinion has nothing on tik tok because tik tok is so raw), I want to start to bring my content into video form- basically what I blog about I want to do tik toks and reels about it too. My biggest challenge here is time, as with everything but I am setting it as a goal to try to accomplish this year – wish me luck!

And with that, I hope to achieve these goals or use them as my compass this year. Obviously there are many that I cannot control and are dependent on this pandemic environment, but I’m hopeful better days are coming. Feel free to share your goals with me or any ideas on how to tackle these!

Paulina
