Smock Midi Dress for Summer

Happy first week of August… and if you’ve been into the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale like I have, happy last week of the #Nsale! It’s been a pretty hectic couple of weeks over here (I share why below) so I finally got to take my #Nsale purchases and this smock midi dress for Summer for a spin!

From my Nsale wishlist, I picked up this Brixton Straw Hat in this brown color since I already own and love this hat in this color (shared in this outfit blog post). I also picked up this letter necklace in the letter P, as well as these comfy summer sandals in this cream color (other colors are available). I thought they complemented one of my new purchases, this smock midi dress perfectly – although as I mentioned in my instagram post, it gave me Little House in the Praise 2.0 vibes! Regardless, I was super comfortable in it and can also see myself wearing it with my converse for a casual day out!

Sooooo, last week we got new flooring in!! WOO HOO!!! It only took us 6 years to pull the trigger but with this new flooring it got the ball rolling on the rest of the house decor. It also took 6 years for my husband to give me free reign on decorating and I took it and ran with it! I immediately had him paint the living room and kitchen white and I’ve been buying so much stuff to fulfill my new home decor vision. I’m sharing lots of it on IG stories (there’s a highlight reel on home decor 2021 updates) but once the spaces feel more complete I will share it here on the blog with all the details and links! While we were painting and having the new floor installed, we had to get all of our furniture out of the house and then be out of the house for 2 days + navigating the kids’ routines or even having a routine for that matte= exhaustion and stress. The floor looks spectacular so it paid off!

We also have a family member who is not doing so good, so that’s caused a lot of sadness and stress. Then last Monday, my dear Julian got a fever and cough so we immediately separated to avoid him getting the baby sick. My husband took care of Julian while I quarantined in our room with our baby girl. We had him tested the next day and thankfully it wasn’t covid. Sadly, Capri got a little bit of his cold but I like to think that my breastmilk helped her out big time. Any time our babies are sick in any way it is HEARTBREAKING. Through all of these challenges we (hubby and I) had to focus on the priorities at hand, our babies and staying somewhat healthy to be able to take care of them. It’s slowly getting better and this week I have been focusing on changing my mindset to be more optimistic, getting things done and getting this darn house decorated! Sorry I just vented to y’all… you would think that now that I have a therapist I would vent less! hee hee
