Yesterday, the San Diego Italian Film Festival invited me to their monthly Italian movie “Sentire L’Aria” (Feeling the Air) held at the Museum of Photographic Arts which is located at one of my favorite places in San Diego… the historic Balboa Park.
How cute is this miniature book necklace from Yoyen Designs? Aside from being gorgeous, it is functional, I literally wrote something in it 🙂

In preparation for the movie, I received a basket filled with Italian goodies: La Birba wine, Venissimocheese, homemade Italian treat pizelle, all of which increased my excitement to attend this event. I’m always intrigued with movies that are different than the norm and deliver a message in an unconventional manner, which is what I feel this movie did. Victor Laruccia, the executive director of SDIFF, introduced the movie by giving a brief synopsis and also going into the message of the film. The movie captured how one young man pursued his passion of shepherding, a dying trade in Biella, Italy in a way where we saw his day-to-day during different seasons and contrasted with modern day. Aside from the amazing scenery in the film, the message that stuck with me was the concept of time and how we all value it differently at different points of time- you know like the saying “time flies when you’re having fun”?
If you are in the San Diego, I highly recommend checking out the San Diego Italian Film Festival website, they not only highlight great Italian films on a monthly basis, but also aim at bringing people together to share the appreciation for Italian culture.
